Me'Shell NdegéOcello - Leviticus: Faggot

Thanks, Helen, for sharing this. Changes start with us....our thinking, our assumptions...breaking free from damaging words and traditions. As we remember those who have been hurt for being who they are, consider how you can be the change for future generations.

From Helen: "Sadly, this song is still a little too much the truth for LGBTQ kids of color."

What one thing can you do this month to make sure another life is not damaged by hatred?

Please note: Adult Language

Thanks, Helen, for pointing this out. I LOVE the whole video, but I especially like the commentary while the credits are rolling. Once school is over, you get to pick the people you hang with!

January and February of this year, I dabbled with the idea of a Paleo-ish diet. I have been researching this lifestyle for almost a year now, and had decided to implement it. Unfortunately, I did not continue this style of eating beyond February, and I have noticed some changes.

Random Drive-Thru

Two months ago, when I pulled up to pay for my breakfast sandwich and coffee, I was told "the lady who just pulled away paid for you." I was marveled....amazed. It was the coolest feeling.

Last Friday, I did the same-I paid for the latte of the lady behind me.

As I drove out of the drive-thru, I changed my mind....that was the coolest feeling.

Try it once...I think you'll like it.

Inspired by "Where the Hell is Matt," I decided to self-fund a 120,000+ mile, 16-country, 18-month adventure around the world.

If you have never visited NerdFitness (and shame on you if you haven't), I suggest taking a peek at this website. I have been following it for a couple of years now, and Steve and his gang continue to amaze, encourage, and entertain me on a daily basis.

In case you were born in 1969, here is a list of number-one singles of 1969. If you weren't born in 1969, scroll to the bottom to find the year you (or someone you know) born to see the Hot 100 Number-One Singles in that year.

What is kind of interesting is that I recognize more songs from 1969 and before. What exactly does that mean?!?!?

A Year of No New Clothes Purchases

So, if we had a dollar for every New Year's blog or story about resolutions, we could ALL be wealthier! Personally, I think it's great to have a time of year that we reflect on where we have been and plan for where we are going. I like to do it Jan 1 and July 1, hitting both the "traditional" and the "fiscal" new years. I feel it's healthy to assess without criticism and to look forward without placing expectations. Both are hard, I know, but I believe both are critical to my mental and physical health. This year I looked back and looked forward and felt one goal I could set for myself is not to purchase any new clothing (other than the necessities).
